I am excited to share my fractal art with you, called “ A Passion for Purple”.
I am an Interior Designer specializing in Edesign, or virtual or online design and I like to create fractal art and home decor to go with my designs.
Sometimes I create the art first and then design a room to highlight the art, and other times I create the room first, and then design art to go with it.
Sounds complicated but working with it is kind of like magic. It is like traveling through the inside of a kaleidoscope and looking for a cool place to stop and stay awhile. Once you stop and everything freezes, you can play with color and texture and light and shine, and all kinds of things until you create the perfect image. Then you take a picture of it. From that, I can create art on a canvas, in a frame, on a wall hanging or fabric, curtains, rugs, bags furniture, and whatever you want! This makes it really versatile for Interior Design which I love.
Let me show you what I mean. Let’s take a little trip into the kaleidoscope and see what it is like.
A Trip into the Kaleidoscope
Traveling through the “kaleidoscope” when working with fractal art.
Once we stop, we can play with the color and texture, and light. When you have just what you want, you take a picture. Every creation is unique. If someone asked me to make something just like another one I had made, say in a different color, I could never find the exact spot again in the kaleidoscope….it would be like finding a particular drop of water in the ocean.
Playing with color, texture, light, and shine in the “kaleidoscope”.
What Comes First? The Room or the Art?
So in the case of this particular series, A Passion for Purple, I created the room first and then designed the art to go with it. I had wanted to explore how purple can be used in Global Style designs. and what the energy would feel like using this color.
What's So Great About Purple?
On the color wheel, purple is between red and blue and can take on aspects of its neighbors. Like blue, purple can feel calm and relaxing, and is the color of nature, as many wildflowers are purple. Like its neighbor red, it can feel stimulating, energetic, and passionate. Darker shades of purple are sometimes associated with wisdom.
Purple is a symbol of status, wealth, and royalty, and it has also been used in religion, linking it to spirituality and mysticism. Some believe it inspires creativity. Because it is versatile in its meaning, it connects with a wide range of people and is a complex color.
"A Passion for Purple" Fractal Art
I wanted my art to reflect the complexity of purple so that it was calm, yet vibrant, mysterious, spiritual, and elegant at the same time.
I like the way the dark rich purple grounds the room, yet the light purple glows with serene energy. It feels very calming, yet vibrant and mysterious as well as if it has the secret to some ancient wisdom.
Your selection of art determines the energy you want to surround yourself with.
How do you want to feel?
Change the Art, Change the Energy of the Room
I thought it would be interesting to explore how other art would change the energy in the same room so put art from Saturday night live art host Brooke Harker and co-host Joan Marie in it to see what would happen.
As you can see, each piece changes the energy! Learn more about these amazing pieces, “Buzz and Flow”, by Brooke Harker and “Oogenesis” by Joan Marie, in my blog article, Let the Art Be the Heart of your Home.
Brooke Harker is a contemporary artist based in Los Angeles, California ad the creator of Saturday Night Live Art Shows. Learn more about Brooke and see her work on her website.
