Will Buyers Love Your For Sale 1980’s Home?

Will Buyers Love Your For Sale 1980's Home? Northern LIghts Home Staging and Design

Are you planning to sell an older 1980’s home and wondering how to update the look so buyers will love it without spending a lot of money?  Often, it is younger buyers with familes that may be your target market. To appeal to younger buyers, consider updating the look to make it more modern.

Remodeling can be expensive and you need to consider whether you will get a good return on your investment by doing it. Your realtor is a good source of information on which items are worth spending money on.

In this 1980’s home, I recommended painting the inside, replacing the worn and dated carpeting and lights,  replacing the master bath counter top and some of the closet door pulls. I also recommended replacing some of the worn and dated furniture with rental furniture and staging it with modern art and accessories.

I staged the house using bright colors in the furniture, art and bedding to appeal to younger buyers.

The result was a fresh, clean, modern and fun look that would appeal to younger families.  The house sold on the first day it was on the market for full asking price! Which house would you rather buy?

  1. I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with
the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify
it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare
to see a nice blog like this one these days.

  2. I have been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet
I never found any interesting article like yours.

It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all site owners and
bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be much more useful
    than ever before.

  3. I love how you were able to make a few simple changes that made a huge impact!

    1. Thank you Lauren! All those simple changes really add up to a fast sale for the price you want.

  4. I love hearing these stories of quick sales of homes that have been staged. It’s well worth the investment to hire a Stager!

    1. Thanks Claire! Yes, it is a simple thing to do and makes such a big difference in the sales price and time on the market. it is a no-brainer!

    1. Thanks so much Janet! It was exciting when this house sold the first day on the market for full asking proce!

  5. Good for you for making the smart changes for that home. Simple changes can sometimes be just the ticket!

    1. Thanks! Yes, simple changes often make a huge difference, and one of the benefits of hiring a stager is that they see those things that a homeowner can’t see any more.
